RED SEAL® ENERGY SERVICES AND SOLUTIONS

VENTILATION SOLUTIONS & VENTILATION LOAD CALCULATION

We at Red Seal® USA go to great lengths to help our clients understand the issues that causes their homes or buildings to be energy inefficient. For example during our initial evaluation and energy assessment, we count the intake area and the exhaust area of your attic and determine if you need to move more air through your attic. Codes written in the past when energy was cheaper called for a 1/300 ratio of attic space to air flow, or simply put moving 3 feet of air for every thousand square feet of air. That is 1.5 feet of air in, 1.5 feet  of air out.

We believe this ratio should be increased for the Georgia and South Continental USA weather. For example, the weather for the State of Georgia is a hot  and humid climate and most energy dollars are spend on cooling your house on hot days or heating your home in cold days, so moving 4 to 6 feet of air for every thousand square feet; that is 2 to 3 feet of air in, 2 to 3 feet of air out,  and this way  your attic will get properly ventilated and it will perform much better. Only the latest new homes are designed by architects with this higher ratio of air  movement incorporated in the design. Unfortunately  the reality is that we find  a lot of old design problems with today's homes and commercial buildings. These issues left un-addressed it will continue to get worst,  keeping these structures as energy inefficient as possible and for the owners to throw away money, month after month.

For example, in most cases we find that the sofit channels designed to allow the movement of air along the base of the roof are often clogged by paint, repaint,  improperly  sized holes, improperly installed old  insulation and poorly installed baffle vents. The sofit vents were intended to be  initially installed in strips of  12+" x 4" inch hole which are becoming ineffective due to improper installation or no  maintenance at all.  Another common issue that we find are the bearings on wind turbines  that are wearing out prematurely and stop working trapping moisture and hot air in the attic, thus creating the need for new turbines to be installed Whatever your case may be, we can provide an efficient energy saving solution to move efficiently more air through your attic or repair the design and items intended to move air through your attic.  This is an important and vital step before installing the Red Seal® Radiant Barrier System.
